WATERFRONT IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

IMPORTANT TEMPORARY ACCESS CHANGES BEGINNING AUGUST 2026

The City of Pompano Beach is making improvements to the Roy Rogers Park waterfront. This project includes construction of a new seawall cap, promenade improvements, and replacement of the public docks to enhance safety, resiliency, and public access.

Construction will occur in phases and will require temporary access changes.

Please review the information below to know what to expect.

PHASE 1 – STAGING

WEEK OF AUGUST 10, 2026

  • Construction staging is scheduled to begin the week of August 10, 2026.
  • The Water Taxi and Wahoo Bay areas will remain accessible from the landside during this phase.
  • CLOSED: The fishing area will be closed to the public.
  • CLOSED: The north promenade will be closed to the public.

PHASE 2

EXPECTED TO BEGIN SEPTEMBER 2026

  • Landside pedestrian access to the finger pier, the promenade along Wahoo Bay, and the north fishing promenade will be closed.
  • Water Taxi service will need to be suspended and/or relocated.
  • Wahoo Bay will remain accessible from the waterside via the finger pier.
  • The finger pier will remain in place during this phase and will not be demolished until Phase 3.

PHASE 3

EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATE SEPTEMBER / EARLY OCTOBER 2026

  • There will be no pedestrian access to any areas within Phases 1 through 3.
  • The finger pier will be removed.
  • Access to both the Water Taxi and Wahoo Bay from the pier will no longer be available through early January 2027.
